In 1979 Patricia Bergman apprenticed with a metalsmith who taught her to work raw metals into a finished piece. Since then, her work has changed frequently as she was able to improve her skills and see the endless possibilities before her.

Her current materials include sterling, brass and copper in the form of various gauges of sheet or wire. First she draws on the metal and etches it in a solution. It is then cut or sawed into shapes that are combined and attached by riveting or soldering. As she continues by using many traditional hand tools, she hammers, files, shapes and buffs with a high-speed wheel. It is then given a patina and durable finish.

Her niche throughout the years includes handmade hair accessories that complement the jewelry, both of which are constantly evolving.

Through the years, she has exhibited her work at art and craft shows across the country. As a member of the Arkansas Craft Guild, her work is currently sold at the Arkansas Craft Gallery in Mountain View, Arkansas, and the Jewel Box in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

Attending approximately twenty shows a year keeps her motivated and in touch with other artists. Some of these shows include Art on the Square in Madison, Wisconsin; the Tennessee Art and Craft Association show in Nashville, Tennessee; the Great Gulf Coast Art Festival in Pensacola, Florida; and the Paseo Art Festival in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
