In discovering the 18th-century historical pottery of European influence, I found my creative home.

I love the images of German redware; they speak to my sense of whimsy. The simplicity of patterns of slip-trailed work lends itself to beauty and production.

I love being a production potter.  Creating multiples of daily use ware and learning to keep forms and designs fresh actually lend themselves to endless creativity. The repetitive nature of functional work is peaceful work. Working with my husband, Joe Jostes, is a privilege.  He is a true master of the craft and his learned hand guides me every day.
